Christmas services were well attended at St Columba’s this year.

Nearly 200 took part in the packed Christmas Eve service, hearing familiar Bible readings and singing well-known and newer carols.  Highlights included an unaccompanied trio singing Mary Did You Know? and a clarinet solo.  A child came forward and explained the meaning of the Christingle, before we all lit ours, and the lights were dimmed for a magical Silent Night by candlelight.  After the service, which raised over £400 for a local charity working with disabled children, worshippers enjoyed mince pies in the church hall, and catching up with old friends and visitors.

On Christmas morning, we had a number of visitors, both local and from farther afield who were visiting families.  This meant that we had a number of young children at our service, which included a Who Wants to be a Millionnaire-style quiz on Christmas.
