Eco Matters: Fairtrade Fortnight

This is the eighth in a series of articles from the Eco Church Team at St Columba’s, which are also published in our church magazine.

Over 100 million cups of tea are drunk in the UK every day!  That was news to me as one who their fair share of this brew.

This year Fairtrade Fortnight takes place from Monday 22 September – Sunday 5 October 2025.  Over these fourteen days we are being asked to Do It Fair, celebrating the difference we can all make when we choose Fairtrade.  With the world in a tailspin, fairness isn’t a given.  But the power to get there is in our hands.  Together, our actions can have a positive impact on real people’s lives.  Fairer pay.  Fairer treatment.  Fairer futures.  That’s Fairtrade.  It’s not just a label – it’s a movement.  So, whatever you do, and however you do it, Do It Fair.

There’s plenty to discover with a tea fact sheet, a quiz, a petition and lots more information about the tea plantation workers at https://www.fairtrade.net/uk-en.html.
