After a break of two years, owing to the Coronavirus pandemic, Churches Together in North Shields met again this Good Friday for an open air service and procession of witness.
However, with renovation works in progress in Northumberland Square and Howard Street, we took a different route this year.
We assembled for a hymn and a short address from our MP at Alexander Scott Park, and then processed via William Street, Borough Road and Railway Terrace to Bedford Street for another hymn. We continued along West Percy Street, around the perimeter of Northumberland Square, along Suez Street, Stephenson Street and Upper Pearson Street to Pearson Park for a final hymn, prayer and benediction.
St Columba’s then offered a Good Friday Messy Church, exploring the story through art and craft activities.
